Patricia Gonzales-Moreno – ISME PRESIDENT
Patricia González-Moreno, the sitting ISME President, is Professor
Music Education at the Autonomous University of Chihuahua,
Mexico. She has served ISME in different capacities: as a Board Member
(2012-2016), Chair of the ISME Advocacy Standing Committee (2012-
2016); member of the organizing committee for ISME World Conference
(Porto Alegre, 2014); and for the North American and Pan American
Regional Conferences; ISME representative in the World Alliance for Arts
Education; and member of the Editorial Board for ISME Revista
Internacional de Educación Musical. She is co-author of the global
evaluation of El Sistema (with Creech et al, 2016). Currently working on
the project ‘Educational processes for social inclusion in contexts of high
vulnerability’, including a collaboration with University of Texas, to
research and develop activities in contexts of violence. Patricia is a member
of the Editorial boards of five journals and Commissioner for the ISME
Research Commission (2014-2020).

Okoka Opio Dokotuk – LIRA UNIVERSITY
Okaka Opio Dokotum is a Professor at Lira University and the founding
Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, a prolific multidisciplinary
researcher, author, playwright, poet, filmmaker, and advocate for
multilingual education. As an Associate Professor of Literature and Film,
Dokotum has made significant contributions to the fields of literature-film
adaptation theory, trauma cinema and aesthetics, performative poetics,
music video aesthetics, visual history, heritage studies, and Ugandan
literature. He is a dedicated creative, who has written and adapted numerous
works, including the play Wek Abonyo Kwani (Let Abonyo Study, 2003),
which he transformed into the first-ever feature film in Lëblango/Lwo. His
work continues to shape literary, cinematic, and cultural discourse in
Uganda and beyond.

Sheila Woodward – IMC PRESIDENT
Sheila Woodward is Professor of Music and Director of Music Education
at Eastern Washington University, USA. She previously served as President
of the International Society for Music Education (ISME) and is currently
President of the International Music Council (IMC). She serves on the
Editorial Board of the Journal of Popular Music Education and previously
served on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Music
Education. Dr. Woodward has previously served on numerous professional
boards including the IMC Executive Board (2017-2023), the ISME Board
(2004-2008 and 2012-2016), the ISME Early Childhood Music Education
Commission (1992-1998), the NAfME Council for IN-ovations (2012-
2014,), and the NAfME Executive Board of the Society for General Music
(2002-2006). Dr. Woodward’s research focus is Music and Wellbeing.

Geoff Mapaya – UNIVERSITY OF VENDA
Geoff Mapaya, a Professor at the Department of Arts and Social Sciences,
is a South African music legend who has dedicated his life to promoting
local communities through music education, research, and collaboration.
His passion for uplifting marginalised communities, his virtuosity on th e
guitar, and his accomplishments as a sound engineer and producer make
him a truly unique and inspiring figure in the world of music. Mapaya has
served the University of Venda as the Head of the Music Department for
three 5 year-terms (fifteen years). He is a member of the University Senate
and serves in the Institutional Forum.
