Call for Nominations to the Executive Committee
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS TO THE PASMAE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE 2023 – 2025
The Nominating Committee is looking for committed candidates who can offer strong leadership and insight in pursuing PASMAE’s goals. Executive Committee members are expected to participate in PASMAE events and activities as well as participate in committee work of the Society. The Nominating Committee seeks qualified candidates to put their names forward for nomination with a view of aspiring to an Executive Committee that is reflective of the membership it serves.
Conditions for nominations
To be eligible, one must have been a paid-up PASMAE or ISME member for a minimum of two years, attended at least two PASMAE or ISME conferences within the past four years and the nomination must be supported by a PASMAE member(s) in good standing. All nominees must sign the attached Nomination Form A1 indicating their willingness to stand for nomination.
Mandate for the Executive Committee
The PASMAE Executive Committee oversees regular and special conferences; issues such publications as may be deemed necessary; establishes and/or recommends to the General Assembly the establishment of Special Committees and/or the appointments of special functionaries as appropriate for carrying out the work of the Society; it acts on behalf of the Society on all matters of relating with governments, other organizations, institutions and persons; and lastly, it organizes at least one statutory meeting per biennium to authorize such other activities as may be appropriate to achieve the purpose of the Society.
The constitution guides that ‘Regional Vice Presidents administer regional activities of the Society; they take initiative. They promote membership and interest in and activities of the Society at the regional level; represent the members of the region at Executive meetings; and shall perform other duties as are necessary and proper to the conduct of the office, or which the Executive may from time to time direct with the guidance of the President.’
Every six months, a ‘Regional Vice President prepares and submits a written report to the Society President prior to all Executive Meetings regarding activities for his/her Region. Any officer proving not active, and not communicating for a period of three months, shall be substituted’
It is important to note that the Exco positions are voluntary and not remunerated. There are 4 seats to be filled are for a two-year term, from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2025 and they are as follows:
- President-Elect
- Vice-President Southern Africa Region
- Vice-President Western Africa Region
- Vice-President Eastern Africa Region

Your statement should include the following: (1) your involvement with PASMAE for the last four years; (2) what you would bring to the Executive Committee; and (3) your general vision for PASMAE.

In accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws of PASMAE, elections are held every second year, during the General Assembly at the regional conference.
